After yesterday's storms and heavy rain, all was quiet purpose in the board park this morning. Mrk 2 fins appeared as if by magic and everyone went racing. 3 were scheduled and completed in sparkling conditions
In the men's fleet, Dorian van Rijsselberghe [NED] was flying. Remember, he lead last year's World Championship for 4 of the 6 days. Only falling apart, when the pressure built to boiling point. Dorian is quick, very quick when he is relaxed as he was on day 2 of US SAILING's 2010 Rolex Miami OCR which is the second stop on the International Sailing Federation (ISAF)Sailing World Cup 2009-2010
Kevin Stittle [CAN] is in the number 2 slot, having been consistent all day. Now back in the Olympic Windsurfing fleet after successfully campaigning a Tornado multi-hull for the 2008 Olympics. His experience and his fitness is now beginning to pay off in the RS:X fleet. Nick Dempsey [GBR], the current RS:X World Champion, sits in third, having had what for him was a poor result in the 3rd race of the day.
Over in the women's fleet, it is the Spanish dream team in command as usual. Blanca Manchon [ESP] leads the RS:X Women's World Champion, Marina Alabau [ESP] by 4 points with Charline Picon [FRA] a further 4 points behind her.
Its great to see that Blanca and Marina have not apparently missed a beat after the death of their coach, Kim Lythgoe, last winter.
