Another long day of waiting was endured by everyone before the wind finally filled enough to get two races off. Birthday girl Bryony Shaw [GBR] has extended her lead to 13 points in the RS:X Women's windsurfing fleet whilst Piotr Myszka [POL] holds on at the top of the RS:X men's windsurf fleet with just a one point advanatge.
Behind these two it was all change last night as some had a bad day on the water and others had their scores repaired as the discard kicked in.
The big losers in the RS:X Class men's fleet include World Champion Nick Dempsey [GBR] who put in a 19th followed by a 20th to kill his hoped of a podium finish. Charline Picon [FRA] managed a 13th and a 23rd but the effect was less severe as she now sits in 4th with every chance of finishing in the minor podium places being only 2 points off second overall.
And what of those who took the elevatr ride up the standings?
Blanca Manchon [ESP] and Laura Linares [ITA] had a good day's racing and discarded double figure scores to climb to 2nd and 3rd overall respectively but 8 women now have scores in the 20s and all have big discards so the women's podium is far from decided. Bryony on the other hand must be feeling quietly confident given her big points advantage and a single figure discard.
Byron Kokalanis [GRE] won the two races of the day and climbed to second overall. He has won in Hyeres before so Piotr Myszka [POL] must keep his wits about him to hold of his challenge. Nimrod Mashiah [ISR] in third is leading the charge for the last step on the podium with King Yin Chan [HKG] 6 points adrift in 4th and then comes a bunch of 6 guys with scores in the low 30s who must all be harbouring ambitions to get in amongst the leaders.
