2013 RS:X Worlds - Format of Racing

E-mail Print PDF

2013wc_smallThe Executive Committee, having taking into consideration the sailors' and coaches' reps feedback, have decided to follow the 2012 AGM decision for not using the 2013 Worlds to experiment with a radical new format.

The format to be used at the 2013 World Championships in Brazil will consist of two days in Round 1, two days in Round 2 and on the fifth and final day there will be a medal race and a final fleet race for the remaining competitors.  Racing will take place in Groups as in previous years on a trapezoid course, apart from the medal races which will be on a windward-leeward course.  There will be no reserve day.  Whilst the Notice of Race accommodates any chosen format, it will be amended to describe the final format of racing.

The Executive have asked Robert Lamb to chair the Format Working Party, and nominate its members.  The new working party is tasked to further explore possible race formats to be tested at events in 2013 so that a recommendation can be made to ISAF for discussion at the ISAF Conference in November 2013.
