Access to multisport block can be added to the 3S list of services in about 30 days if necessary (It takes that time to simplify the set up protocols).
What is your "weakest link"? Choose a sport, which will give you maximum benefit in building up this weakness. So, for instance, if you need to build upper body strength, choose the rowing block (ergometer)
In other words, if you are after VO2max or AnT enhancement (building delivery and functional systems) - use the sport, which you, the athlete know best and are most comfortable with. The fact is that you can load the function better when locomotion is not a limiting factor.
Testing national tennis players on a cycling ergometer (Vo2max, Max HR, Lactate, etc.) - 3S used a tethered test and increased the power in each step. The maximum power at which tennis players usually stop working is around 300-350 watts (5-7 minutes of total effort). By contrast, an average cyclist doing the same test will be able to work around 1 hour at the same power output (350 watts)!
To build specific muscle groups (max power, additional regional strength and endurance) - choose the sport (s) with which you are most comfortableto achieve this goal.
Also, it is important to use the same criteria when choosing a sport to maximize your endurance
NB. We need your help to build a windsurfing specific model within Super Sport Systems. They are working on a new generation of their platform, which will allow them to do everything mentioned above in an automated regime. However, for now they have to come up with some rules and suggestions in order to control athletes' training load. Please give us your feedback on this and we will pass it to 3S so they can build it into the RS:X Class program.
Here's are two questions...
- What is the average intensity during a daily training session on the water? by HR, Lactate, % from max Vo2 max. etc... in relation to wind speed?
- How do you perform / achieve peak power output in windsurfing ... or is it actually necessary?
Please give us some feedback on this. 3S have worked in other sports such as field hockey, tennis, football and wrestling so it should not be difficult or take a long time to do the same for windsurfing.
