The following RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Training Programmes have been put together to assist any ISAF Member National Authority, its delegated national windsurfing association or individual sailors or coaches to access quality value for money training programmes to fast-track their progress to the top of their chosen field. We have designed 8 packages to chose from...
Package 0: RS:X Reach-4-the-Top MNA Support Programme
We provide an experienced coach/consultant to work with your team so that, together, your long term vision can be reached through the creation of your own national windsurfing development programme. This includes assisting you to form a national windsurf structure, to develop the appropriate architecture, training and racing programmes, and can be combined with RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Racing Coach and the Regatta Support and Training Partner Programmes.
This programme may attract Olympic Solidarity funding through you National Olympic Committee (NOC)
Package 1: RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Regatta Support Programme
We provide a top coach, coach boat, RS:X equipment charter and support right through the regatta. You join a group of 6 max. at a selected RS:X Class Championship worldwide or an ISAF Sailing World Cup regatta in Europe. We transfer you from the nearest airport or station to the Regatta venue 7 days before a major regatta.
You work with a top international coach for 5 days on your key skills. You work on a one-to-one on devising strategies for overcoming road-blocks to improving performance.
You can choose whether your package is exclusive to you or whether you wish to share costs by joining an international group with up to 5 others.
Package 2: RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Personal Coach Programme
Work with your personal coach for a minimum of one year. This course makes one-to-one coaching accessible to all - using the power of the internet to provide communication. At an affordable price of course.
Together you will work out a personalised monthly training programme and use internet-based software to monitor your fitness level. You will have access to a message centre so you can contact your coach quickly and inexpensively plus a forum to discuss your views with others. (should be combined with RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Regatta Support Programme)
Package 3: RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Racing Coach
You will work one-to-one with a top international coach/mentor to develop a custom made syllabus to enhance your knowledge and experience. Using the power of the internet, you will be able to communicate with him using our message centre. You will have access to internet-based resources to follow courses on mental preparation and physical training. You will work with different experienced coaches delivering the RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Regatta Support Programme.
There is no internationally recognised sailing coach qualification. However, participants who follow recognised distance learning courses will gain the background knowledge to develop athletes and asses their progress in a scientific and professional manner.
Package 4: RS:X Reach-4-the-Top Training Partner
For racers wishing to leverage their performance by working with an experienced international racer. Their success will breed your success.
Your training partner will help you check your speed on all points of sailing and allow you to measure your performance against a known quantity.
This will allow you to identify areas where you need to improve and perhaps work on your technique.
This package is not a coaching programme by another name so do not expect your training partner to also act as a coach.
Package 5: RS:X Reach-4-the-Top International Technical Officer
It is all very well spending hard earned funding on the development of racers and their coaches but without properly qualified technical officials the regattas in which they compete will not be managed to a suitable standard. This is why the class wishes to encourage the development of new young technical officials to ensure the continued development of high level windsurfing competition nationally and internationally.
- Class Measurer
The class is in need of well trained impartial and competent measurers to act at its national and international regattas round the world so that racers encounter the consistently high standards of decision making on equipment issues wherever they race and regatta organisers have access to well trained and qualified individuals locally or within their region.
The class therefore propose to run a series of measurement courses prior to its major regattas based on an established quality-standard.
For national class measurers who wish to broaden their experience, training and knowledge so that they may act as RS:X championship measurers at class continental and world championships, Successful candidates may qualify as
- RS:X recognised Class Measurer
- ISAF International Measurer for the RS:X Class
- Race Officer
If you are an experienced racer or national race officer who wishes to learn from an established international race manager and race officer, then this is package is for you. You will assist the RS:X Class Race Director at a major championship and learn from his experience. Watch him at work both on shore and on the water. Understand why decisions are made and when.
This invaluable opportunity look-behind-the-scenes will enhance your own thinking when you step back onto the committee boat at your home club. You will gain knowledge and experience that will give you the confidence to work as a PRO at bigger regattas.
The RS:X Class is keen to develop a new generation of young windsurfing race officers who can officiate at major Olympic Class Championships so please get in touch and we’ll do our best to book you into a major class event near you.
For National judges looking to increase their experience internationally, we offer the opportunity for you to observe the international jury at work both on land and on the water. Become accustomed to the necessary process and the essential actions you must take at each step.
