QUALIFICATION SYSTEM
FOR THE
2009 & 2010 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

General
The maximum fleet size for men, women & youth is 120 entries. This restriction has been introduced to ensure quality racing through-out the fleets at these major championships. Full member national classes are thus encouraged to initiate (if they have not already done so) a national qualification series of regattas from which top sailors can be selected to compete internationally

The following competitors qualify:

a) Pre-Qualified Places
i.  The current RS:X World Champion is automatically pre-qualified.
ii.  The current Continental Champions are automatically pre-qualified.
iii.  The current RS:X & ISAF Youth World Champions are pre-qualified.
iv.  The current U21 Class Champion is pre-qualified from the U21 regatta alongside the last RS:X Youth World Championships
NB. These places are not transferable.

b) Entries by right
A National Class Association in good standing is entitled to:
i.    3 places by right.
ii.    Plus one additional place for each of its nationals in the top 100 on the ISAF Ranking list current 100 days prior to the first day of event registration.

c) Maximum Quota per National Class Association.

d) Confirmation of Entries

i.  The National Class Association (NCA) shall confirm by e-mail to the class Executive Secretary the number of entries that it wishes to fill at least 90 days prior to the first day of event registration.
ii.  The names of the sailors who will occupy these places shall be confirmed by the NCA no less than 30 days prior to the first advertised day of the championship.

e) Payment of Entries
i. The NCA shall pay the entry fees for the places requested under d) above at least 90 days prior to the first day of event registration.
ii. Entries shall be paid for on line at www.rsxclass.com or by bank transfer.
iii. No entry will appear on the entry list until the entry fee is paid.
iv.  Fees for entries accepted by the class are non-refundable.
NB. No responsibility can be accepted if a sailor is later refused entry due to non-payment of entry fees by the due date.

f) If the fleet is over-subscribed
i.  A Pre-qualified place has priority over a place by right.
ii.  Each NCA that wishes to enter shall have one place by right as a minimum.
iii. Places by right shall be ranked according to the latest ISAF Ranking List. Those entries that come within the maximum fleet size will be accepted

g) Wild Card Entries

ii. The name of the woman entered into the women's fleet entry shall already appear on the ISAF Ranking list,
iii. Applications for wild cards shall be made by e-mail to the Executive Secretary 90 days prior to the first day of the event.
