QUALIFICATION SYSTEM
For The
2009 - 2010 OPEN INTERNATIONAL REGATTA

Staged alongside the European Championship


General
The maximum fleet size for the men's and women's fleets is 120 entries including the whole European Championship fleet. Competitors entering do so on the under- standing that this regatta is secondary to the European Championship. It will be scored separately and is viewed by the class as a training regatta only.

a) Pre-Qualified Places
i. Those 105 (max) competitors entered into the European Championship (no additional entry fee is required)
ii. The top 3 finishers from each of the last RS:X Continental Championships outside Europe up to a maximum of 15 (max) places. ?
iii. If there was no relevant continental championship in the last 18 months, the qualification places for each continent shall be based on the results of the last RS:X World Championship.
NB. These places are not transferable.

b) Confirmation of Entries
i.    If a National Class Association (NCA) has a qualified competitor, it shall confirm by e-mail to the class Executive Secretary that it wishes to take up this place(s) at least 90 days prior to the first day of the event.

c) Payment of Entries
i. The NCA shall pay the entry fees for the place(s) confirmed under b) above     at least 90 days prior to the first day of event registration.
ii. Entries shall be paid for on line at www.rsxclass.com or by bank transfer.
iii.    No entry will appear on the entry list until the entry fee is paid.
iv.    Fees for entries accepted by the class are non-refundable.
NB. No responsibility can be accepted if a sailor is later refused entry due to non payment of entry fees by the due date. 

d) Wild Card Entries
If the European Championship fleet size is not filled 30 days before the first advertised day of the championship, the class may award wild cards to Non-European competitors over and above the 15 pre-qualified places [see a) above]
i.    A non-European NCA in good standing may apply for one or more wild card entries. Preference will be given to those who have already confirmed a  pre-qualified women's fleet entry. 
ii.    Applications for wild cards shall be made by e-mail to the Executive Secretary 90 days prior to the first day of the event.
iii.    70 days before first day of event registration, if the maximum fleet size is not taken up, the class will confirm those wild card places awarded based on each sailors standing on the ISAF Ranking List current 100 days prior to the first day of event registration.
iv.    Having received class confirmation of the wild card places awarded, a full member shall immediately pay the relevant entry fees.
v.    Fees for wild card entries approved by the class are non-refundable.
