Following on from the change in the RRS regarding the location, size and positioning of sail numbers for windsurfer classes, the RS:X Class have issued the following instructions for placement of sail numbers for all RS:X Class events.| Class Rule | C.9.2(a) National Letters and Numbers |

RRS Appendix G.1.3 is overridden such that the National letters and Sail number shall be black in colour and shall be applied "back to back" on an opaque white background to the sail immediately above batten 4 and as close to the leech as possible. The opaque white background shall extend a minimum of 30mm beyond the National letters and Sail numbers. Note that the above rule has been amended and approved by ISAF as of XX May 2009. |

- Sail numbers MUST be a minimum of 230mm height and minimum spacing between national letters and sail numbers MUST be 45mm.
- Sail numbers MUST be positioned immediately above batten 4.
- The new CR C.9.2(a) overrides the requirement for a "-" between the National letters and Sail numbers.
- RRS Appendix G1.2(a) still applies such that the type face shall be Helvetica or such giving equal or better legibility. If you are in doubt as to the term "clearly legible" then please contact the RS:X Class with an example of the panel you wish to put on your sail.
- The phrase, "...as close to the leech as possible..." is explained and detailed below.
If the opaque sail number panel is narrow enough to fit between the fourth batten and the intermediate batten above the fourth batten, then the opaque sail number panel should be placed as close to the leech as possible. For reference the opaque sail number panel should remain entirely on the mono-film sail panel.

If the opaque sail number panel is not able to fit between the fourth batten and the intermediate batten above the fourth batten, then the opaque sail number panel should be placed as close to the inboard end of the intermediate batten as possible. For reference the opaque sail number panel should remain entirely on the mono-film sail panel.
