2008 RS:X Asian Championship: Stand by

Under the NoR of the 2008 RS:X Asian Championship racing is due to start on Sunday November 30th. However if flights do not start arriving in Thailand tomorrow Nov 28th, racing will either be postponed or cancelled. The Thai News Agency (http://enews.mcot.net/ ) confirm that one flight landed today at Samui-U-Tapao Airport near Pattaya City from Los Angeles.

Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation will issue licenses to all airlines to transport passengers to and from Samui-U-Tapao military airport to solve the problem of stranded passengers after the shutdown of Suvarnabhumi Airport by anti government protesters, according to Chaisak Angsuwan, the department’s acting director-general.

The situation is calm and life continues as normal in Pattaya City. We will therefore wait a further 24 hrs before issuing another statement on the RS:X Asian Championship schedule

For those who are anxious to know the standing of the RS:X Youth World Championship due to start in Pattaya, Thailand on Dec 6th and run through to Dec 14th, we can only emphasise that life is peaceful there. However, the political situation may become clearer in the next 36hrs. Therefore in the interests of everyone, we will make a decision on the championship schedule by the end of this coming weekend.
