The top three women, Marina Alabau (ESP5), Zofia Klepacka (POL8) and Blanca Manchon (ESP1) are each separated by 4 points so it is certainly ‘game on’ for them in the medal race tomorrow. However, the betting is on the positions on the podium remaining unchanged.
Take note, if you will, of the interesting battle for 4th place. Again, there are three in the mix. This time, it is Pauline Perrin (FRA81) who is being challenged by Marine Rambaud (FRA50) and Laura Linares (ITA11) who is just 2 points or one medal race place behind.
Pauline and Marine are locked in their own private battle for supremacy. This one seems likely to run and run right through to the moment when the FFV selects the one woman competitor to go to Weymouth in 2012.
Have no doubt that Laura who is a formidable competitor will want to force the French women to break off their ‘tête a tête’ and defend themselves against her oncoming challenge. Laura just has to beat the two by one place to take 4th spot.
Pauline and Marine would do well to take note!
