Under 17 Division to be included in RS:X Youth Championships

Following a meeting with the coaches here at the 2008 RS:X Youth World Championships, it has been decided that the RS:X Class will include an U17 Division in all RS:X Youth Championships from now on. 2009 RS:X Youth Format: Changed

The RS:X Class has decided to update the format for youth racing in 2009. The board was changed in 2004 for a more modern wide style planing hull. The format we are racing has remained almost the same since 1996 perhaps longer. Read the rest of this entry »

2008 RS:X Youth World Championship: Day 6 - Boys Medal Race

And then there were just ten!  The Boy’s medal race was last to be called to starting area. The wind had filled in to 14 knots. The two judges boats were going to have a hard time keeping up. There were no incidents in the pre-start and they were off. Full planing upwind and flying. Two laps of a windward-leeward course with a slalom end. Read the rest of this entry »

2008 RS:X Youth World Championship: Day 6 - Girls

We awoke to a calm sea and for the first time, a light breeze blowing directly on shore. The Boy’s Fleet race were scheduled to start first followed by the Girls fleet and the Boy’s medal race last. 2008 RS:X World Championship: Laura 5 Times World Champion

Laura Linares (ITA11) went out today knowing that she could become a 5 time World Champion today. She has won gold 3 times at  ISAF Youth World Championships. She has won bronze at the ISAF Youth twice and she has now won the Olympic Class Youth Worlds twice (2004 & 2008). Read the rest of this entry »

2008 RS:X Youth World Championships: Day 5/R10-Boys

Piotr Myzskowski (POL 4) was lying 4th overall last night, 12 points away from the top spot. He took the ‘up’ elevator in Race 9 to lead the fleet overall. In Race 10, he consolidated that position by taking second place and a three point lead overall. The medal race tomorrow counts double points so he cannot relax yet! Read the rest of this entry »
