The first day of the Princesa Sofia Mapfre Trophy, third event of the ISAF World Cup, enjoyed light and stable wind allowing great racing in all 10 classes in the Bay of Palma.
Shahar Zubari (ISR) racing in the Blue Group scored two bullets to grab the top spot on the leader board. Behind him in the same group racing was tight to say the least. Joao Rodrigues (POR) scored a 4th and a 2nd. Dorian van Rijsselberge (NED) a 2nd and a 4th and to make up the trio tied on 2nd, Lucasz Grodzicki scored two 3rds.
Over in the Yellow Group, the top man is Fabien Heidegger (ITA) with a 2nd and 1st with Chan King Yin (HKG) scoring a 4th and a 2nd, believe it or not, to tie with Joao in the overall standing.
Jumping straight into contention in the yellow fleet is Alexandre Guyader (FRA) who we have not seen racing at top level in the boards since being his country's representative at the 2000 Olympic Regatta in Sydney where he famously punched a hole in his sail out of frustration! He has been racing Tornadoes of late but is now back where he belongs at the top of the Olympic windsurfing fleet.
