The conditions may have shuffled the leading players in the RS:X Class Women's Fleet but overall they fared better than the men. That is to true if one counts a 4th and a 6th from Marina Alabau (ESP) as a good days racing. I'm sure she doesn't! Those results mean that she has relinquished he grip on the top spot on the leader board to Blanca Manchon (ESP) who posted a 1st and a 3rd. These two might be from the same country but are in fact from opposite ends so are the keenest of rivals to win their 'home' Olympic Class Regatta.
In fact Bryony Shaw (GBR) also posted a 6th and a 4th but for her it had the opposite effect. She climbed to 4th overall so no doubt she will count it as a good day. The pressure is on for her to maintain that spot. She is just one point ahead of Marina Rambaud (FRA) who had her best day of the regatta so far (2nd & 2nd) and Moana Delle (GER) who are locked together on 27 points and 5th equal.
Looking towards the medal race as everyone must be now doing in their calculations, these three need a miracle to redeem the 13 or 14 points by which they trail the 3rd spot. Flavia Tartaglini (ITA) is only 2 points off second so the medal positions are still up for grabs. She just has to hang in there and keep the pressure on the Spanish pair!
