E-mail Print PDF

Voting to determine the Olympic event representatives for the ISAF Athletes' Commission is now in progress online from 15-21 June 2009.
For the six events where there was only one candidate, that candidate has been automatically elected. The remaining four events - Men's RS:X, Finn, Men's 470 and Women's 470 - had more than one candidate and voting will take place online to elect the representative.

Who Can Vote?
Only athletes who are 'actively campaigning for the Olympics' and ranked on the ISAF World Rankings will be entitled to vote for candidates in the Olympic event in which they are campaigning. All votes will be scrutinized to ensure that this requirement has been complied with. If an athlete casts a vote for a candidate not in his/her event the vote will not be valid and will not be counted.

Each athlete may vote only once. The vote you cast will be final.

Voting will be determined by simply majority, with the candidate receiving the most votes by 24:00 hours on Sunday 21 June 2009 elected as the event representative on the ISAF Athletes' Commission. In the case of a draw in the number of votes, the athlete who is highest on the ISAF World Rankings as at 22 June 2009 will be elected.

ISAF Athletes’ Commission
The role of the ISAF Athletes’ Commission is to act as the link between active Olympic sailors and the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). The Commission reports to the ISAF Executive Committee, therefore ensuring their voice is heard directly to ISAF.

The ISAF Athletes’ Commission members are elected by their fellow sailors and represent each of the Olympic events. The ISAF Athletes Commission meets once a year at the ISAF Secretariat, normally over a weekend in October.
